De Kluut Island
Hey Peeps!
This will be an interesting post for those who love to camp! Thanks to my friend who took me here in order to celebrate her birthday :) This place is different than any other regular camping site as the camping site itself located in a small island called De Kluut. De Kluut is located in the middle of Veluwemeer. Veluwemeer is a narrow lake in the Netherlands that is the border between the province of Flevoland and Gelderland. Campers can take a nice walk by surrounding the island or just enjoy and relax the day in the hammocks that are set up in several areas.
Tipi that we used that time
Instead of building your own tent, the owner has set up several tipis that has the similar use with a tent. In the old days, tipi is traditionally made of animal skins but nowadays it is made of canvas. The beds, small table and fireplace are also available inside the tipi for the campers . The service that is included in this island is the breakfast that is delivered to the tipi in the morning, for those who have requested it previously. There is also a small house that provides such foods and drinks as well as charging point for your electronic devices.
A large field and tables are provided for the campers to enjoy sports or even grill BBQ. The owner will prepare the BBQ grill along with the meats, sausages and salads if you request beforehand.
The owner provides clean bathrooms (hot showers) as well as sinks to clean cooking apparatus to ease the campers.
A walk through the island
The boat that is used to go in and out the island to the mainland
The boat sails four times a day to transport the campers to the the mainland, Flevoland, to have a daytrip around the city. It is usefull to buy some food ingredients which then can be used later on in the island to cook simple meal as each tipi also provided with cooking equipment.
Other island that placed really close to De Kluut island, however it is probably not inhabited.
Therefore if you guys wish to have a relax trip or camp to escape your busy life for a moment or just to spend your electronic-free holiday, this island will be the most suitable place to visit! An early reservation will be a good thing to do beforehand :)
Cheers,
Rona
